Inclusive Travel Play in the Early Years

Travel-themed play taps into something exciting and universal—the idea of going somewhere new. Whether children are packing bags for a pretend holiday pushing a buggy to the shops or setting up a campsite in the garden this type of play brings imagination movement and story together in beautiful ways.

But for some children travel play needs a little more thought. Not every child can or wants to jump into a role-play bus or zoom across the playground on a scooter. That is where our role as thoughtful practitioners comes in—adapting enhancing and tuning in to what works for each child.
